Parents and motorists traveling near Rockwell Elementary in Spanish Fort should be prepared for a new traffic pattern in place starting Monday, August 11, to ease morning congestion and keep traffic moving safely during school drop-off hours.

The new configuration is the result of a joint effort between ALDOT and Spanish Fort, as well as school officials. These changes aim to improve traffic flow from 6:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. when traffic is heaviest.
Key improvements include:
- New lane restriping along US 31 (Right in Only) in front of Rockwell Elementary to better manage turning movements and reduce bottlenecks.
- A relocated Spanish Fort police officer stationed at the intersection of Jimmy Faulkner Drive and Rockwell School Drive to assist with traffic direction and safety.
Motorists are encouraged to:
- Watch new signage and pavement markings.
- Follow officer instructions and posted lane directions.
- Follow school traffic patterns within the school grounds
- Allow extra travel time during the first few days of school.
- Remain patient and alert as families and drivers adjust to the new pattern.
This proactive approach aims to create a safer and more efficient school zone for students, families, and the community.
