Due to continued rainfall, rising water levels and approaching high tide in Mobile Bay, significant traffic impacts are occurring on the US-90/98 Causeway.
ALDOT has closed eastbound US-90/98 at Exit 27 and is directing all traffic onto the I-10 Bayway. The eastbound US-90/98 on-ramp remains closed, and additional lane closures are in place due to high water.
The I-10 westbound Exit 30 off-ramp is being closed because of rising water levels. ALDOT plans to keep the I-10 eastbound Exit 30 off-ramp open to westbound US-90/98 traffic for as long as conditions safely allow.
At this time, and potentially through the evening rush hour, ALDOT recommends motorists traveling Bay Bridge Road, the Africatown Bridge, and the US-90/US-98 Causeway in both directions consider using the I-65 Delta Bridge as an alternate route between Mobile and Baldwin counties.
Motorists should expect delays, use caution in areas with standing water and monitor conditions before traveling. ALDOT crews continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as conditions change.
