In partnership with the Baldwin County Highway Department, the Alabama Department of Transportation has installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route 104 and Saint Michael Way. The signal will improve safety and help traffic move more smoothly, especially for drivers traveling to and from St. Michael Catholic School during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

The new signal will operate in flash mode before it begins normal operation, giving drivers time to become familiar with the intersection. The traffic signal will begin normal operation on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, giving motorists time to adjust before the new school year begins in August.

While the signal is in flash mode, drivers should follow these flashing signal instructions. Drivers approaching a flashing red signal should treat it as a stop sign. Drivers approaching a flashing yellow signal should slow down and proceed through the intersection with caution.

The new signal will make it easier for drivers to enter and leave Saint Michael Way while improving traffic flow on State Route 104. It will also provide a safer intersection for students, parents, school buses, and everyone who travels through the area.

Drivers are encouraged to watch for the new traffic signal, obey all traffic laws, and use extra caution as they adjust to the new traffic pattern.
