The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is hosting an online public involvement meeting for a proposed bridge replacement project on SR-17 north of Sulligent in Lamar County.
Visitors can view project information, review maps and submit comments through Oct. 9.
The project proposes replacing a total of five bridges over the Buttahatchee River and its four reliefs with new bridges that meet current design standards. The new bridges will be constructed on the existing alignment. Construction will be phased to allow access to adjacent properties for as great a duration as is practical.
A detour will be used during construction using I-22 and US-278.
The online public involvement meeting is intended to inform the public about the proposed project and gather input from those who use the route.
