A concrete island installed today on CR-27 at US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County changes the way the intersection functions.

Left turns from CR-27 to US-72 eastbound are no longer permitted. Instead, drivers can make a right turn, travel 1,500 feet west to the signal at Mauldin Avenue/Career Drive, then make a U-turn.

This summer, contractors installed a signal at the US-72 intersection with Mauldin Avenue and Career Drive, the entrance to the Lauderdale County Agricultural Center campus.

Grayson Carter and Son Contracting is completing final work items on the $24 million widening project.
