Travel lanes will soon return to their normal configuration on the I-65 Tennessee River Bridges.
The lanes on both bridges were shifted about two years ago to provide work areas for a $23.7 million bridge rehabilitation project.
The contractor, Cekra Inc., performed repairs to extend the useful lifespans of the 53-year-old bridges. The project included cleaning, painting, repair or replacement of some structural steel elements, repairs to sections of concrete on the bridge decks, and retrofitting bridge rails.
Restriping starts Sunday evening
Beginning the evening of Sunday, April 26, weather permitting, the contractor will remove the current traffic stripe and reinstall the stripe in its original layout. Restriping will take a few nights.
ALDOT advises motorists to expect single-lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until the work is complete. Please drive with caution in the work zone and remain alert to changing traffic patterns.
