Due to cooler temperatures at night, remaining paving on the US-31 resurfacing project in Decatur in Limestone County will take place during daytime hours beginning Monday, Oct. 26.
Rogers Group, the contractor on the $2.9 million project, completed paving on the causeway and around the SR-20 junction just north of the Tennessee River. Rogers Group is currently paving in the vicinity of Calhoun Community College, where traffic volumes are much lower.
ALDOT elected to allow the contractor to switch to daytime hours so that paving can take place under optimal conditions, providing better results.
Lane closure times
To limit impacts to non-peak travel hours, ALDOT will restrict lane closures to the timeframes of 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. northbound and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. southbound.
Lane closures for other work such as installing guardrail, traffic stripe and shoulder stone, remain restricted to nighttime hours.
