The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to resurface a portion of Interstate 20/59 from near Exit 1 to near the McCainville Road overpass at milepost 19.6 southwest of Epes to improve mobility and safety.
The project is expected to begin mid-March and will continue until Fall 2024, weather permitting. The contractor is required to keep one lane open in each direction to reduce the impact on traffic.
Wiregrass Construction Company was awarded the project at $6.37 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
