The new roundabout at SR-87 and SR-167 south of Troy in Pike County is nearing completion.

Beginning Monday, March 11, crews will be working on the inside of the roundabout to prepare for the final traffic pattern.  A pilot car and law enforcement will be utilized to direct traffic during this time.

Weather permitting, the roundabout will be fully operational on Wednesday, March 13.

Once the roundabout is open, the contractor will complete the final paving outside of the roundabout, install lighting, remove unused pavement, and lay sod.

Motorists are advised to continue following the reduced speed limit of 35 mph during construction and to be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

Motorists may want to seek an alternative route, if one is available, Monday and Tuesday or plan for traffic delays.

The project, that began June 2023, remains on track to be completed this spring.

Roundabouts reduce serious injury and loss of life crashes as well as traffic congestion.  According to Federal Highway Administration, roundabouts typically achieve a 35% reduction in all crashes with a 76% reduction in injuries and more than 90% reduction in fatalities.

Tips for roundabout use:

  • Slow down when approaching a roundabout,
  • Yield to pedestrians and bicyclists,
  • Yield to circulating traffic when entering, and
