Left turns from Memorial Parkway to Mastin Lake Road to be closed for several months

Dec 11

The left turn lanes on North Memorial Parkway (US-231/US-431) at Mastin Lake Road in Huntsville will be closed for the safety of the traveling public during initial stages of the overpass bridge construction. ALDOT anticipates the closure remaining in place for several months.

The closure of the northbound and southbound left turn lanes on the new service roads at the intersection will begin about 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16.

Travel impacts

Northbound traffic for Mastin Lake westbound must continue north to a crossover to turn around. Multiple crossovers on the north end of the project remain accessible, including:

  • Gilbreath Road/Stallworth Road, which includes a large, paved area on the west edge of the road that can provide additional space for commercial vehicles to complete U-turns
  • Medaris Road, which includes a left turn lane
  • Industrial Drive
  • Winchester Road, a signalized intersection with a left turn lane and protected left signal

Traffic heading south for eastbound Mastin Lake Road must continue south and either U-turn at the Sparkman Drive overpass or take U.S. 72 East to Mastin Lake Road.
