The westbound I-565 interchange with Town Madison Boulevard in Madison opened to traffic today.
The interchange at Exit 10 provides access directly from I-565 to the Town Madison development just south of the interstate. The development includes Toyota Field, home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas baseball team. Two years of construction culminated in the interchange fully opening ahead of the Trash Pandas’ fifth season opener Friday, April 4.

The City of Madison fully funded the the second phase of interchange construction. This phase includes the westbound on- and off-ramps and two flyover bridges connecting them with Town Madison Boulevard. The eastbound on- and off-ramps were constructed in a previous phase and opened in 2021.
“This project represents a significant investment in the City of Madison and the surrounding area,” said Madison Mayor Paul Finley. “We would like to thank ALDOT for their support in bringing the project to completion. By providing this interchange along I-565, we have increased local access, decreased congestion, supported the local economy, and provided citizens with a safer more connected community.”
Finley joined other city and state officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon, after which the interchange opened to the public.

Work continuing into spring
Although construction is substantially complete, work continues. The contractor will finish wearing surface paving on I-565 and add final striping in the coming weeks as weather permits. ALDOT advises motorists to exercise caution in the area. Once work is complete, ALDOT will conduct further inspections before accepting the bridges and roadway for maintenance.
