The Alabama Department of Transportation is inviting Alabamians to help shape the future of walking and biking in the state by providing feedback on the Alabama Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
The plan provides a framework for statewide bicycle and pedestrian development.
Input from the public is considered essential for identifying safety issues, addressing connectivity gaps and ensuring that resources are allocated fairly across both rural and urban areas. It outlines strategies for improving trails, sidewalks, bike lanes and other facilities while also helping ALDOT invest its resources where they’ll have the most impact.
ALDOT encourages residents, local officials, cyclists, pedestrians and others interested in shaping transportation in Alabama to review the plan and submit comments through ALDOT’s online public involvement forum. The comment period is open through Monday, August 19.
To view the plan and provide feedback, visit ALDOT’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan site.
