An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) pavement preservation project on I-65 in Butler County begins Thursday, July 31, weather permitting.

The project, which features micro-fine milling, resurfacing and traffic striping, will take place on I-65 from just north of the Conecuh County line to just south of Panther Creek Road, north of Georgiana.

Crews will limit lane closures to Sundays through Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The approximately $6.6 million project is to be completed in spring of 2026. The project was awarded to APAC-Alabama, Inc., out of Birmingham, who had the lowest bid that met the project requirements.

Motorists should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits throughout the project. ALDOT urges drivers to plan accordingly and remain cautions around people and equipment in the work zone.
