A Friday morning crash involving a commercial vehicle on I-65 close to mile marker 313, near Vinemont in Cullman County, left a tangled section of guardrail blocking the southbound lanes and approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the pavement.

An ALDOT crew responded quickly to the 8 a.m. wreck, cutting the damaged guardrail, removing the guardrail and other debris from the road, and spreading sand to absorb the fuel spill, while wreckers removed the crash vehicles.

The roadway reopened at 10:25 a.m.

ALDOT workers removed a section of guardrail that blocked both southbound lanes of I-65 following the crash.
