A map showing where the bridge replacement project takes place on I-65 in Clanton.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to replace two bridges on I-65 over Walnut Creek at milepost 209 in Clanton with modern structures to improve safety.

The project is expected to begin Wednesday, May 6, and will continue for approximately two years, weather permitting. The new bridges will be built to allow traffic to remain in place with no detour required. However, nighttime lane closures will be permitted Sundays through Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

McInnis Construction was awarded the project at $22.2 million.

Drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
