The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has reopened SR-63 to traffic at US-280 following a bridge replacement project in Alexander City.

ALDOT is hopeful SR-63 could reopen by early July following a bridge replacement just south of US-280 in Alexander City.

Closed since May 2025, engineers are hoping to reopen the 1,600-foot section of SR-63 by July 4, if weather conditions allow.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will replace the bridge over Sugar Creek and adjust the grade along SR-63 from milepost 27.925 to the US-280 intersection.
