US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County will undergo nighttime lane closures next week to accommodate paving on side streets and mainline leveling for a $24 million widening project.

Weather permitting, Grayson Carter and Son Contracting plans to implement single-lane closures in both directions between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly, Sunday, May 19, through Thursday, May 23. The work zone stretches about two miles, from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Road just west of Shoal Creek.

Funding for the project to construct additional lanes includes a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.
