The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to resurface, install guardrail and place new traffic striping on a portion of SR-216 in Tuscaloosa County from the junction of SR-215 to the junction of Lock 17 Road in Brookwood to improve mobility and safety.
The 11.6-mile project is expected to begin Monday, July 15 and will continue until the end of the year, weather permitting. Flaggers and/or a pilot car will guide traffic through portions of the work zone.
Lane closures will not be allowed from 6:30 a.m. through 8:30 a.m. to reduce the impact on traffic. Additionally, lane closures will not be allowed on weekends when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
APAC-Alabama was awarded the project at $5.16 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
