ALDOT to conduct bat survey on bridges along US-82

Jul 30

The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to conduct a bat survey on bridges along US-82 (McFarland Boulevard) on Saturday, August 3 in Tuscaloosa.

This survey will cover the Woolsey Finnell Bridge, Campus Drive Bridge and railroad bridge west of Campus Drive.

To facilitate the survey, the US-82 westbound outside lane will be closed at 7 a.m. and is expected to reopen that afternoon. Following this, the US-82 eastbound outside lane will be closed and should reopen by 7 p.m., weather permitting.

As required by federal regulations, ALDOT must look for bat roosting sites to ensure that construction activities minimize the disturbance to the bat population.

Motorists should expect delays during this time.
