The center turn lane project on US-31 in Spanish Fort, which started June 3, 2024, will be fully open to traffic beginning Monday, August 5, 2024, in time for the first day of school in Baldwin County. Permanent striping and signal detection work will follow in the coming days with alternate lane configurations.

  • Project Details:
    • Location: From the junction of Old Highway 31 to 0.265 miles east of Coleman Lane.
    • Cost: $1,557,977.00 (Federal Safety 90 percent – State Match 10 percent).
  • Project Benefits:
    • Enhanced traffic flow on US-31.
    • Safer access to businesses and side streets without impeding mainline traffic.
