As high school football season kicks off in Alabama, Drive Safe Alabama is partnering with the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) to promote safe driving messages to thousands of fans statewide. This partnership is a key component to Drive Safe Alabama’s ongoing efforts to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities by encouraging safe driving behaviors.
Through this collaboration, Drive Safe Alabama’s messaging is prominently featured in weekly sports programming during football, basketball and baseball seasons, reaching an audience that includes young drivers, parents and fans of Alabama high school sports.
We’re grateful to bring Drive Safe Alabama’s message to the heart of high school sports. Friday night football games are a tradition in communities across the state and it’s the perfect opportunity to remind everyone – especially young drivers – about the importance of wearing a seat belt, following the speed limit and eliminating distractions while driving.
Allison Green, Drive Safe Alabama Coordinator
In addition to weekly sports programming, you can see Drive Safe Alabama supporting major events like the Super 7 football and basketball tournaments, giving halftime interviews with game announcers on the AHSAA radio network. This gives ALDOT the opportunity to be in the ears of folks watching and listening to championship games and reminding them about the importance of safe driving. Drive Safe Alabama also sponsors an Athlete of the Week, which highlights outstanding student athletes and is shared on social media.
This partnership ensures that the important message of safe driving reaches a huge audience, including teenagers and their families. As football fans gather to support their teams, they’ll also be reminded of the importance of making safe choices on the road, helping to create a safe Alabama for everyone.
