The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has won three top communication awards from an organization representing state transportation agencies across the country.
ALDOT took home the honors during the recent annual meeting of TransComm, the communications committee for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), a national nonprofit group that represents and supports state departments of transportation.
“We are pleased to be honored with these prestigious national awards,” said Allison Green, communications manager at ALDOT. “These accolades reflect our dedication to providing clear, informative, and engaging communication to the public.”

And the winner is…
- Virtual Outreach: ALDOT’s Virtual Public Involvement Meeting for McFarland Blvd (US-82) Improvements and Bridge Replacements received recognition for its innovative use of technology to engage with stakeholders. The virtual meeting provided a convenient and accessible platform for the public to participate in the transportation planning process.
- Indoor or Outdoor Advertising: ALDOT’s Code of the Road billboards were recognized for their creative and impactful design. The campaign effectively conveyed important safety messages to drivers, reinforcing the importance of responsible road behavior.
- Audio/Video Production – PSA: Video or Radio: ALDOT’s Hands-Free Law PSA was honored for its compelling storytelling and clear messaging. The PSA highlighted the dangers of distracted driving and encouraged motorists to put down their phones and stay focused on the road.
