The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announces that its traveler information platform, ALGO Traffic, won a prestigious True Grit Best Project Award at the 2024 Gulf Region ITS annual meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Specifically, ALGO Traffic is a valuable tool for drivers, providing real-time traffic updates, construction alerts, and incident information.

Meanwhile, GRITS, an organization comprised of transportation professionals from Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, desires to advance the safety and efficiency of the transportation network across their states.

The True Grit Best Project Award honors groups or organizations that have demonstrated the most innovative and effective use of advanced technologies to improve travel.  This award recognizes the organizations whose project, application, or deployed technology has shown specific and measurable outcomes.

In reaction to the win, “We are thrilled to receive this award,” said Brett Sellers, Assistant State Maintenance Engineer, TSM&O. “ALGO Traffic is a vital resource for our citizens, and this recognition validates its positive impact on our transportation system.”
