There is still time to give input on the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan for Alabama.
The Alabama Department of Transportation is updating the current plan with input from a project advisory committee of municipal representatives and bicycle and pedestrian groups. Members of the public have until Dec. 31, 2024, to provide input that will be used in finalizing the plan.
The purpose of the plan is to establish a vision for safely integrating bicycling and walking into our overall transportation system.
ALDOT makes it easy for the public to provide comments about the bicycle and pedestrian plan online. More information about the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan is available on the ALDOT website.
Public involvement workshops were held around Alabama in the fall, so that community members could ask questions and give input. ALDOT wants to learn from the public about the specific locations where bicycle and pedestrian transportation improvements might be needed.
