An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) bridge widening project on Interstate 85 South over Miles Creek at Exit 42 (Wire Road) begins Monday, Jan. 6.
The project will widen the bridge over Miles Creek at Exit 42 (Wire Road) on I-85 South to accommodate the extension of the deceleration lane off the interstate onto Wire Road.
Motorists should expect delays due to lane closures permitted Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. ALDOT will not permit lane closures during Auburn University’s A-Day Spring football game or during Fall home football game weekends.
The contractor may close shoulders daily.
We advise motorists to drive the reduced posted speed limit. Motorist should be mindful of people and equipment while traveling through an active work zone.
ALDOT awarded the approximately $2.7 million project to Newell & Bush, Inc., out of Montgomery, Ala. The project is expected to be complete Fall 2025.
