The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and the City of Foley are set to improve the intersection at SR-59 and CR-12. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 6.
What to Expect
- New turn lanes:
- Right turn lanes will be added on SR-59 North and South.
- Left and right turn lanes will be added on CR-12.
- Additional improvements:
- Culvert extensions
- Signal upgrades
- Traffic detours:
- The east side of CR-12 will be temporarily closed.
- Motorists should use Foley Beach Express and CR-20/Miflin Road as detour routes.
- The detour starts Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately 8-10 weeks.
- Work Zone Safety:
- Follow all posted traffic signs.
- Reduce speed and use caution in the work zone and along detour routes.

- Contractor: McElhenney Construction Company, LLC
- Expected Completion: Fall 2025
- Funded by: ATRIP (Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program)
