An Alabama Department of Transportation project to install a continuous “Green T” signal at the intersection of US-31 and McQueen Smith Road in Prattville will begin, Wednesday, Feb. 19, weather permitting.

The project will also include resurfacing on US-31 from north of the Alabama River bridge to US-82.

The continuous “Green T” signal will give a constant green indication for southbound US-31, while stopping northbound traffic as needed to allow turns to and from McQueen Smith Road.

The signal will improve traffic flow and increase safety for all turning movements by giving a protected turn to and from McQueen Smith Road traffic.

Lane closures will be intermittent throughout the length of the project.

Motorists should plan accordingly for delays and be mindful of equipment and people in the work zone.

Asphalt Contractors, Inc. of Montgomery, won the approximately $4 million project with the lowest bid that met the project requirements.  They expect to be complete in fall 2025.
