The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) continues to celebrate National Engineering week, which highlights the career achievements from Region Engineers.
Born in Greensboro, Hale County, Wallace McAdory III attended Southern Academy and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1984. He is a registered professional engineer and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
McAdory began his career with the Alabama Highway Department in 1992 as a Project Engineer in Mobile, where he later served as Assistant Construction Engineer and District Engineer. He also worked as the Bridge Operations Engineer, Division Maintenance Engineer and Area Operations Engineer in the former Eighth Division in Grove Hill.
He transferred in 2014 to start the new Fayette Area office as part of the West Central Region, which spans 13 counties. Following service as the Assistant Region Engineer in Tuscaloosa, he was appointed the Region Engineer in 2022.
McAdory on what he’s learned throughout his career: “It’s important to listen to taxpayers, stakeholders and elected officials to try to help with their concerns. I am also passionate about traffic safety and helping develop our young engineers into future leaders.”

- Widening of I-20/59 in Tuscaloosa County
- Construction of the Gordo Bypass on US-82 in Pickens County
- Construction of the Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) and arch bridge in Tuscaloosa
- Construction of the Rebuild Alabama Act project to widen US-82 in Tuscaloosa
