The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is celebrating National Engineers Week by recognizing the dedicated regional engineers who work to ensure safe and efficient travel across the state.
In the Southeast Region, Josh Kervin is the youngest and newest region engineer, having assumed the role on Jan. 16, 2025.
Kervin earned a degree in civil engineering from Auburn University in 2004 before beginning his career with ALDOT. Over the past 21 years, he has held various positions, including project engineer, District 64 Engineer, Montgomery Area Maintenance Engineer, Southeast Region Preconstruction Engineer, Southeast Region Assistant Region Engineer, and now Southeast Region Engineer.
He and his wife, Melissa, have three children: Katelyn, Abigail, and Ethan.
The Southeast Region comprises 19 counties, stretching from the Georgia and Florida borders and including the Troy and Montgomery areas.
Notable projects in the Southeast Region include:
- Multiple bridge widening projects along I-85
- Ross Clark Circle in Dothan
- Greenville Rest Area replacement
Through the leadership of engineers like Kervin, ALDOT remains committed to improving infrastructure and enhancing mobility for all who travel through Alabama.
