As construction to widen US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County continues, ALDOT advises motorists to expect nightly lane closures for about two weeks.

Asphalt leveling by Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will impact traffic beginning the evening of Monday, Feb. 24. Motorists should expect single-lane closures in either direction between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night. The work may temporarily block side streets and accesses as well.

The work zone stretches about two miles, from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Road just west of Shoal Creek.

Funding for the $24 million project to construct additional lanes includes a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.
