The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to remove the abandoned railroad bridge on US-11 near Chamblee Avenue northeast of Woodstock in Tuscaloosa County.
The project is expected to begin Monday, March 3 and will continue until late 2025, weather permitting. The contractor is only allowed to close lanes Sunday through Thursday night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to reduce the impact to traffic.
Carcel & G Construction was awarded the project at $2.13 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
