The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will host a come-and-go style public meeting to discuss a potential project along SR-215 (University Boulevard) in Cottondale.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Church of Judah International where members of the public can ask questions and view exhibits regarding the project.
The project aims to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersections of SR-215, Buttermilk Road and US-11. ALDOT plans to construct a signalized standard T-intersection, reconfigure Buttermilk Road and modify lane configurations to enhance efficiency and connectivity by managing roadway access. This may include modifications to driveways, intersections, turn lanes and medians by balancing efficient traffic movement with safe access to adjacent businesses and side streets.
Additional modifications to SR-215 include widening the roadway to two lanes in both directions from Prudes Mill Road to west of SR-216.
These changes are expected to accommodate more than 16,000 vehicles that use this stretch daily, while also providing additional support for detoured interstate traffic.
Church of Judah International is located at 6835 University Boulevard East, Cottondale, AL 35453.
