Planned lane shift on I-59, in Trussville

Mar 31

Weather permitting, Monday night, March 31, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will shift lanes on I-59 southbound toward the outside, right shoulder. Travel lanes will also be narrowed.  This condition will be in place from Exit 141 (Chalkville Mountain Road) to Exit 137 (I-149 Interchange).  Two lanes will remain open in both directions other than periodic, nighttime, single-lane closures from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

If weather prevents this work on Monday night, the shift will occur on the next available night.

Motorists should consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.

ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama. For further information, visit www.dot.state.al.us.
