Left turns closed at US-43 and SR-64 for reduced conflict intersection project

Apr 15

Motorists will see traffic patterns change today at the intersection of US-43 and SR-64 in Lauderdale County.

The intersection in the Greenhill community is being converted to a reduced conflict intersection (RCI) to improve safety. Key features of an RCI include eliminating left turns and through movements from the side street. To construct the channelizing islands to prevent left turns from SR-64 and CR-364, the contractor must close the median crossover of the intersection, meaning left turns from US-43 will also be prohibited temporarily. The left turn lanes from US-43 will reopen once the new intersection modifications are in place.

The contractor is installing signs to direct motorists.

More information about this project and how the intersection will function once the project is completed can be found here.
