The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) held its annual equipment ROADeo for the Tuscaloosa Area on April 16, bringing together skilled heavy equipment operators for a day of competition and professional development.

The ROADeo encourages safety and precision while helping operators sharpen their skills across a variety of equipment challenges. Competitors tested their abilities on machines such as single- and tandem-axle dump trucks, tractor mowers, backhoes, motor graders, skid-steer loaders and lowboys.

Top finishers from the Tuscaloosa Area — which includes Bibb, Chilton, Hale, Perry, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties, as well as the southern half of Greene County — will advance to the statewide ROADeo in Montgomery on May 15, with hopes of earning a spot in the Southeast Regional Competition this fall in Kentucky.

ALDOT’s Fayette Area will hold its annual equipment ROADeo on April 24.
