An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) US-31 resurfacing project in Lowndes and Butler Counties begins Monday, May 5, weather permitting.

The project will take place on US-31 from the Piney Creek Woods bridge to Julian Town Road.

This project includes planing, resurfacing, and traffic striping.

Motorists should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits throughout the project. ALDOT urges drivers to plan accordingly and remain cautious around people and equipment in the work zone.

The approximately $4.3 million project was awarded to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., out of Dothan, who had the lowest bid that met the project requirements.  The project is expected to be completed Fall 2025.
