The traffic signal at SR-59 and Baldwin CR-12 will be temporarily turned off Wednesday, May 21, as ALDOT crews install a temporary signal and complete infrastructure upgrades.

The signal will be shut down at 9 a.m. and is expected to be back online by 4 p.m. Foley Police will direct traffic during the outage to maintain safety.

This work is part of a $1.83 million intersection improvement project that includes:

  • New right-turn lanes on SR-59 north and south
  • New left and right-turn lanes on CR-12
  • Culvert extensions
  • Upgraded traffic signals

Crews will connect new power lines and remove old signal poles to make room for the added turn lanes. The timing avoids conflicts with summer beach traffic and school closures.

Eastbound CR-12 remains closed, but ALDOT expects to reopen it in the coming weeks. McElhenney Construction Company, LLC, is managing the project, which is set for completion in fall 2025.

  • Funded by: ATRIP (Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program)

What is ATRIP?

ATRIP is a statewide program that helps improve roads and bridges across Alabama. It is a partnership between ALDOT, local governments, and federal funding sources to enhance traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure.
