ALDOT warns the public about scam using state branding

Jul 28

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) warns the public about scam text messages falsely claiming to collect toll payments or traffic fines on behalf of the department. Some of these messages now include the ALDOT logo.

ALDOT does not request payments, fees or personal information via text.
These scams try to trick people into clicking links or sharing personal and financial details.

If you receive a message claiming you owe a toll or traffic citation:

• Do not click any links

• Do not provide payment or personal information

• Block the sender

• Report the scam to the FTC

We encourage Alabamians to help spread the word and protect others, especially those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
