The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to resurface and improve access management on SR-216 from near Covered Bridge Road to George Richmond Parkway in Brookwood.
The project also includes sidewalk installation and traffic signal upgrades. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 11 with the installation of construction signs and is expected to continue through the end of the year, weather permitting.
These improvements aim to enhance safety and mobility for those traveling to the nearby school and local businesses.
The contractor is not allowed to begin work until 9 a.m. to reduce the impact to traffic. Additionally, no work will be allowed on weekends when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
Bulls Construction Group was awarded the project at $1.46 million.
