The bridge on Upper River Road over I-65 in Priceville is now open to traffic. The bridge closed in late June for repairs and raising.

Contractors repaired damage to the bridge girders that occurred in April when a piece of equipment struck the overpass. They then raised the bridge 13 inches to improve clearance.

The bridge raising was a planned part of a major resurfacing project on I-65 in Morgan County. The repair was added to the project, which was already under contract, following the collision.

In addition to resurfacing more than 23 miles of I-65 from Hurricane Creek in Cullman County to Exit 340 in Limestone County and raising the Upper River Road bridge, the $16.5 million contract with Rogers Group includes raising the bridge at Parker Road in Hartselle.

After raising the Upper River Road bridge, workers leveled the roadway approaches to match the profile of the bridge, graded and dressed shoulders, upgraded bridge rails, and installed guardrail. Additionally, ALDOT crews performed maintenance on the bridge deck.
