The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advises motorists traveling from the Birmingham area into Tuscaloosa for University of Alabama football games to use the recommended interstate exits to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on local roads.

The priority route is I-20/59 westbound to Exit 73 (McFarland Boulevard). This route provides the most direct access to campus and surrounding areas.

If conditions prevent use of Exit 73, motorists are encouraged to take Exit 79 (University Boulevard) as an alternate option.

In the event of a crash, Exit 100 (SR-216) may be used as an additional route into the city.

ALDOT, in coordination with the University of Alabama and local law enforcement, will monitor traffic conditions throughout gameday to help ensure safe and efficient travel. Motorists are urged to plan ahead and follow traffic message boards.
