A $6.1 million paving project on US-72 in Jackson County is underway.
The project with contractor Rogers Group includes milling and resurfacing 7.5 miles of US-72 from west of SR-35 in Scottsboro to CR-113 in Hollywood.
Milling to remove the old road surface began Friday.
