ALDOT employees serve up fun and flavor for a good cause

Nov 14

ALDOT employees in Mobile traded their safety vests for aprons Thursday during the “Dress the Dog” Fundraiser, bringing plenty of good food, laughter and community spirit to the Training Building.

The lunchtime event, held Nov. 13, drew a hungry crowd eager to support the State Combined Campaign, which benefits United Way Charities of Alabama. Between the aroma of grilled Conecuh sausage, the friendly competition at the cake auction and the excitement of the split-the-pot raffle, the fundraiser was a hit from start to finish.

Employees enjoyed a meal that included a beef or Conecuh sausage dog, chips and a drink. The price for a meal was $10, with the option to add an extra sausage dog for $2. Every bite helped raise money for a great cause.

The event raised a total of $516.00 thanks to the generosity of ALDOT employees and supporters.

Organizers expressed gratitude to everyone who made the day possible — from the volunteers from ALDOT’s Materials and Testing division behind the grill to those who donated homemade cakes and bid enthusiastically in the auction.

Special thanks to Thompson Engineering, Volkert INC, Neel-Shaffer INC, TTL, CE&I Consultants and Buffalo Rock for donating food and drinks.

“Events like this show how much heart our ALDOT family has,” said Southwest Region’s Assistant Region Engineer Brian Aaron. “It’s great to see everyone come together to enjoy a meal, have fun and support our community.”

Our lunchtime tradition continues to be one of the most anticipated fundraisers of the year. It combines good food, friendly faces and a shared spirit of giving — all for a great cause.

The event along with employee pledge card donations and payroll deductions helped bring the region’s total contributions to over $2,000.00.
