ALDOT is responding to treat bridges on SR-24 in Franklin County.

ALDOT is responding to treat ice on the US-43 bridge over Cedar Creek in Franklin County.

Though currently all state routes are open with no issues reported, ALDOT crews will be treating and monitoring potential icy areas, particularly on bridges and mountainsides, in Madison, Jackson, and DeKalb counties throughout the night.

ALDOT crews continue to treat and plow in Lauderdale and Colbert counties. Temperatures in far northwest Alabama remain below freezing, and additional ice accumulation is possible.

ALDOT crews are treating SR-207 in Lauderdale County

Mainline of Memorial Parkway (US-231) is closed. The elevated part of I-565 is one lane open each direction

Morgan County – All lanes on US-231 on Brindlee Mountain are open.

UPDATE: Jan. 24, 2026 at 10:04 a.m.

Madison County – all elevated sections on Memorial parkway are closed due to ice. Crews are working in the area now.

Morgan County – crews are on site working on bridges on US-231 on Brindlee Mountain. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office advised that the road was closed at 8:45 a.m.

UPDATE: Jan. 24, 2026 at 7:45 a.m.

ALDOT crews began spreading salt early this morning as a winter storm entered the state.

Treatment operations started shortly after 3 a.m. in northwestern Lauderdale County. About an hour later, crews began spreading salt and de-icing chemicals in Limestone County, particularly on I-65 and I-565.

Crews are also working in Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Morgan, Cullman, Madison, and Marshall counties. Crews remained on standby in DeKalb, Jackson, Etowah, and Cherokee counties.
