The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to resurface I-20/59 from the Mississippi state line to the northwest city limits of Cuba in Sumter County to improve mobility and safety.
The 1.68-mile project will also include lighting and pipe repairs to the welcome center.
Construction is expected to begin Monday, March 9, and will continue until fall 2026. The contractor will maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction throughout the project.
S.T. Bunn Construction Company was awarded the project at $9.04 million.
Drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
