The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to resurface I-22 in Walker County from near Exit 72 to the Jefferson County line to improve mobility and safety.
The 7.71-mile project is expected to begin Monday, March 16, and will continue until fall 2026. The contractor will maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction throughout the project.
Wiregrass Construction Company was awarded the project at $4.86 million.
