ALDOT reopens I-59 northbound ramps at Chalkville Mountain Road

Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) crews have reopened the I-59 northbound Chalkville Mountain Road (Exit 141) ramps in Trussville.

Following their May 18 closure, contractor Wiregrass Construction has worked hard to reopen the ramps ahead of the 40-day deadline.

Traffic was flowing on the reopened I-59 northbound exit ramps at Chalkville Mountain Road Friday, June 26.

The contractor has about three months remaining to open the widened northbound lanes to their new three-lane configuration to receive a $1 million incentive.

ALDOT appreciates the contractor’s diligence to reopen the ramps quickly to minimize the impact of the ongoing I-59 enhancements.

Contractors aim to complete the overall $70.37M project by early 2027.

While the ramps are reopening, we encourage motorists to use alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, when possible, near this project.
