CSX will close SR-117/Kentucky Avenue for repairs at the rail crossing just south of Main Street in Stevenson on Wednesday, March 11, and Thursday, March 12.
The closure will remain in place around the clock until completion of the repair.
Detour route
ALDOT advises motorists to prepare for a lengthy detour that stretches into Tennessee.
The detour for northbound traffic, from Stevenson, will be US-72 eastbound to I-24 westbound at Kimball, Tenn., to US-41A at Monteagle, Tenn., to Tennessee 56 southbound at Sewanee, Tenn., which becomes SR-117 in Alabama.
The detour for southbound traffic will be SR-117/Tennessee 56 northbound to US-41A at Sewanee, Tenn., to I-24 eastbound at Monteagle, Tenn., to US-72 westbound at Kimball, Tenn., to Stevenson.
ALDOT reminds commercial drivers that trucks must use the official detour.
