SR-21 safety improvements, access management, & resurfacing

SR-21 safety improvements, access management, & resurfacing project from Milepost 258 to Milepost 265, is underway.  The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will close a SR-21 northbound and/or southbound lane, in Calhoun County from approximately Milepost 258 to Milepost 265, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., for safety improvements, access management and resurfacing. 

The required work activities will consist of removing and modifying median crossovers, removing and constructing turn lanes, constructing U-turn bulbs, modifying business accesses, addressing drainage components and resurfacing SR-21.  These work activities should be complete by November 14, 2025. 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
