Public invited to give input on statewide bicycle and pedestrian plan

The Alabama Department of Transportation is inviting the public to give input as it updates the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. This fall, the team leading the planning process will hold five public workshops across the state. The workshops will give people an opportunity to learn more about the plan and to share their perspective on bicycling and pedestrian needs.

The workshops will be conducted as open houses where members of the public are invited to ask questions, discuss the project with staff, and provide comments on elements of the plan.

Community members may attend the workshops any time between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  

Here are the dates and locations for the Alabama Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Workshops:

  • West Central Region – October 28, 2024, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., 2715 East Skyland Boulevard, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405
  • North Region – October 29, 2024, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., 1525 Perimeter Parkway NW, Suite 400, Huntsville, AL 35806
  • East Central Region – October 30, 2024, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., 924 Bankhead Highway West, Birmingham, AL 35204
  • Southwest Region – November 6, 2024, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., 1701 I-65 West Service Road N, Mobile, AL, 36618
  • Southeast Region – November 7, 2024, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., 1525 Coliseum Boulevard, Montgomery, AL 36110

The purpose of the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian plan is to establish a vision for bicycling and walking as modes of transportation in Alabama and to help guide investment in bicycle and pedestrian facilities that maximize limited available funding.
